Six years after his debut at Blues & Ritmes, the Texan Alejandro Escovedo returns to Badalona. Not with the idea, however, of presenting any new album but of offering, for the first time in Europe and strictly exclusively for our festival, a show entirely dedicated to the songs of Ian Hunter, eminence of British rock, and the group (one of David Bowie's favourites) he fronted during the 1970s: the venerable Mott the Hoople. All the Way From Memphis , Roll Away the Stone , Once Bitten Twice Shy , All the Young Dudes… A celebration of the timelessness of rock music with one anthem after another and in which Escovedo, if that wasn't enough, will be accompanied by the group of musicians with whom Ian Hunter has been touring and recording records the new millennium: the almighty Rant Band. Escovedo, part of a family saga that includes Pete (percussionist for Santana), Sheila E (drums for Prince) and Javier (soul of punk-rock group The Zeros), was chosen by No Depression magazine as the “best artist" of the nineties and, among his most ardent admirers, are Joe Ely and Bruce Springsteen. The Rant Band, as first Ian Hunter and now Alejandro Escovedo have noted, is the backing band every rock star wishes they had. A luxury party to open, with all the honors, Blues & Ritmes 2023.
